Rick Genest - Zombie Boy

'Rick is turning himself into a zombie. So far, more than 24 hours of tattoos – costing over £4,075 Canadian – have got him halfway there and made him a minor celebrity on the internet, where people can’t decide if he’s a body modification visionary or mentally ill sicko.'

'What influenced your tattoos?

'When I was a kid I was a big fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and I wanted to be a ninja turtle and live in the sewers. But as I got older I fell in love with zombies and wanted to become one.'

Dreams of the childhood. Live in the sewers. Live in the background. Live where we don't bother mom and dad. Because they don't have time for us.

And people always achieve their dreams. They really live their whole life where their mom and dad put them. In a grave. Alone. And only a few of them can return from there. And they are not zombies. Anymore.

and now
search yourself,
you bitch!

Tattoo Festival at Wat Bang Phra

'Every March, the Wat Bang Phra buddhist temple of Nakhom Pathom, Thailand, becomes the scene of a celebration, known as the Wat Bang Phra Tattoo Festival.'

'Wat Bang Phra buddhist monastery is famous for its magically charged tattoos and amulets which can protect its wearer against harm and even speeding bullets.'

'Some of the devotees, in a deep trance had been taken over by the animals tattooed onto their bodies. Sometimes a monkey. Sometimes a tiger.

If they were a tiger they would roar and clench their fingers like claws. If they were a snake they would crawl on the ground.'

Some were calmed by their friends who stroked their head or rubbed their ears.

'And how about protection from being physically harmed?

The people who have that tattoo (ลงยันต์ สัก ), will be protected. But they must be moral, and follow the five precepts. (Do not kill. Do not steal. Do not be unfaithful to your spouse. Do not lie. Do not take drugs.)'

Mara 18

The Mara 18 is a street gang which was formed by Hispanic immigrants in Los Angeles in the 1980s but the Mara 18 established a presence in Central America (almost El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras) when its members were deported from the U.S. to their native countries. Members of the Mara 18 often can be spotted by the many tattoos, which include the number 18, that cover their bodies.

A Mara 18 egy utcai banda, amely latin emigránsokból jött létre Los Angelesben a nyolcvanas években, majd Közép Amerikába települt át, miután tagjait visszatoloncolták szülőhazájukba. Tagjai testét tetoválások borítják.

Some of them pics were taken Christian Poveda, a French filmmaker. He filmed La Vida Loca (The Crazy Life) documentary about the rival gangs. Christian Poveda was shot to death 2009. Suspected a gang members killed him.

A fenti képek egy részét Christian Poveda francia dokumentumfilm rendező készítette, aki a La Vida Loca (Őrült életek) c. filmet forgatta az utcai bandákról Salvadorban. Christian Povedát 2009-ben lelőtték. Feltehetően egy bandatag végeztek vele.
